Accessible Clothing for Women: Jaimie’s Journey with The Lullaby Club

At The Lullaby Club, we believe that accessible clothing for women should go beyond just functionality and style—it should be adaptable for all stages of life, including the challenges that come with illness, disability, and changing bodies. Our clothing is designed to meet the needs of every woman, making sure she feels comfortable, stylish, and confident in her skin, no matter what journey she’s on.

Jaimie’s journey is one that highlights the power of accessible clothing for women in supporting personal identity, confidence, and style, especially for women who are wheelchair users. Jaimie’s story shows how important it is to find clothing that not only meets physical accessibility needs but also makes you feel beautiful and empowered.

The Lullaby Club's Accessibility: Jaimie's Story

If you know The Lullaby Club, you know we’re all about more than just size inclusivity. Every piece we create is designed to support women through every stage of life —from motherhood to moments of rest and everything in between. But TLC isn’t just for mums; our pieces are made for all women , including those navigating illness or disability. With comfort, adaptability, and effortless style at the heart of everything we do, we’re here to make sure every woman feels confident, beautiful, and truly at home in what she wears.

“I first came across TLC on social media a year or so after I became a wheelchair user at the age of 24. My health was rapidly deteriorating, my weight changing drastically due to medications, and I suddenly had to learn to dress myself in a wheelchair. As we all know, clothes look and fit differently when you’re sitting down, whether you are a wheelchair user or not. But it is crucial for wheelchair users to be comfortable in our chairs all day and to wear clothes that do not cut in and create additional pain or discomfort. For that reason, it can be so tempting to live in old leggings and baggy t-shirts, but as a young woman who had always loved putting outfits together, I desperately wanted to feel like I could create a look that was both comfortable and looked good. For anyone going through major body or health changes, being able to dress in a way that makes you feel good is so important to your identity during such a tough time. Our clothing is a key way to express ourselves, giving us control over how people see us and can feel like one of the few things that still feels normal,” says Jaimie.

Jaimie’s Favourite Piece from The Lullaby Club

When we asked Jaimie about her favourite piece from The Lullaby Club, she didn’t hesitate to mention the Florence Mini Dress. This dress is the epitome of accessible clothing for women, offering not only style but also comfort and functionality.

“The Florence mini dress is my go-to as it barely requires any styling and fits so many of my accessibility needs. It is floaty and puts no pressure anywhere on your body, perfect for wheelchair users! It is also amazing for people with spinal cord injuries or neurological conditions like MS, which make it difficult to control body temperature. The lightweight breathable material will keep you nice and cool on hot summer days! Additionally, for my fellow sick girls, it has IV, port, ECG, and central line access through the ties and adjustable sleeves, which means even on those hard treatment days you can feel put together and not wear a horrible hospital gown or have to fuss with clothing,” says Jaimie.

Accessible and Stylish: The Florence Top and Matilda Shorts Combo

"The waistband is high enough to wear over an ostomy bag or other medical device""

Jaimie also enjoys pairing the Florence Top with the Matilda Shorts, another example of accessible clothing for women that prioritises both comfort and practicality. “It’s a great combo for days when I want to feel put together without overthinking it. The shorts feature an elastic waistband that’s soft and comfortable, while the Florence top offers the perfect balance of style and ease,” says Jaimie.

For women dealing with medical needs, the Matilda Shorts and Posey Pants have been a revelation. “They are roomy, and the waistband is high enough to wear over an ostomy bag or other medical device, they are even lined so you don’t have to worry about seeing anything through them,” adds Jaimie. These features make them perfect for women with accessibility needs, providing comfort, coverage, and style.

Advice for Women Searching for Accessible Clothing

Jaimie’s journey with The Lullaby Club has led her to offer invaluable advice to other women looking for accessible clothing for women during challenging times. “First, work out what your access needs are. Do you need stretchy waistbands, IV access, or something floaty to keep you cool? If you are a wheelchair user, comfort is key—elastic or loose waistbands are your best friend! Crop tops will sit nicely in your wheelchair as they won’t overwhelm your beautiful figure,” Jaimie recommends.

She continues, “Look for brands like TLC that value size-inclusivity. Your body will change throughout your journey, and having clothes that can adapt to you is just what you need. Use social media to find bodies that look like yours! Seeing other beautiful people with illness and disability has given me so much confidence and normalises our bodies. Be kind to yourself. It’s not easy to be ill or disabled anyway, and if you’re struggling with your style during this time, that’s okay! For me, finding outfits I love really helps me feel better, but you just have to do what you can each day and know that is good enough!”.

A Community of Women Embracing Their Journeys

What makes Jaimie’s experience with The Lullaby Club so special is how it embodies the core values of our brand— accessible clothing for women that adapts to all stages of life and challenges. Jaimie, like so many others in our community, deserves to feel confident and beautiful no matter her journey. Our clothes are designed to meet a range of accessibility needs, ensuring every woman can express herself and feel good in what she’s wearing.

“The Avalon Maxi Dress is another favourite. I even got called a princess while wearing it to treatment the other day. Of course, everyone with an illness or disability will have different access needs, but I find so many of TLC’s pieces fit my needs and general access needs wonderfully,” says Jaimie.

Conclusion: Accessible Clothing For Women

Jaimie’s story is a testament to the impact that accessible clothing for women can have. It’s about more than just style—it’s about feeling confident and empowered, no matter what changes life brings. At The Lullaby Club, we’re proud to offer clothing that supports women through all the ups and downs of life, whether they’re navigating illness, disability, or simply changing bodies.
